You could use names for mom and dad in other languages.
In French mother and father is mere and pere.
In Italian and in Spanish mother and father is madre and padre.
In Dutch its moeder and vader.
In German mother and father is Mutter und Vater.
Colloquial terms for mom and dad include mama, mumsy, papa, pops. You could use first names for the characters, i.e. Charles and Esther. Good luck!
