Hmm. It depends what your price range is. I don't know if there are certain gifts that are approprite in this situation, but if it were me I would arrange a weekend getaway. I'm sure he can use a nice relaxing break!

I got my MBA at the relatively mature age of 39. One gift I really enjoyed was a nice financial calculator. They were rare and expensive back then. Now, I guess a blackberry or something similar would be good.

Also, my wife gave me a pocket watch to go with the 3-piece pinstripe suit I had just bought for myself. I would say, give him a pinstripe suit (preferably 3-piece) or a pocket watch.

You know the motivational posters that are on a black background and at the botom say things like Succeed and Goals and stuf like that. Just do a search in yahoo for motivational poster and you will get several results. Put on in a nice frame for his new office. I have a firend that did that for her husbands graduation present from seminary and he loved it. Simple but thoughtful not like a thing of cologne ot a new pen.
