You need to take prenatal vitamins with iron. Every woman who is pregnant needs to take prenatal vitamins. You can't be sure that you are getting enough vitamins for both you and your baby in food alone.

Yes, there is iron in some foods, but how much? In other words, will you be getting enough iron every day in the foods you eat? Why take a chance on your babies health? When you take iron supplements then you know that you are getting the amount of iron that you want.

I echo the persons question who asked if your doctor prescribed an iron supplement for you. You had to see a doctor to have your iron level checked. If the doctor told you or sent you a form that said your iron level is low and didn't prescribe something for you, that is irresponsible of him/her.

You could eat a little more red meat, or cook some of your foods in an iron skillet. The food will pick up some of the iron. Spinach and beans also have iron.

Spinach is a great source of iron, and believe it or not, Cream of Wheat is the best source of iron of all cereals on the market. Good luck!

Liver or spinach are high iron foods. You can also take Slow FE, an iron supplement. I had to take that in my last pregnancy.

Invest in a cast iron skillet and that will help. Cook most of your meals in it. I was anemic during my pregnancy and my dad bought me one and then my iron level went up. For the idiot who gave me a thumbs down.
Cast iron skillets also add iron to our food, which many Americans lack in their diets today. Doctors often recommend cast iron skillets for patients who are anemic or borderline anemic (low iron levels in the blood).

ask your doctor for prenatal vitamins that contain iron. They aren't given to alot of people because too much iron can cause constipation, but if you are deficient then you need them.

Well, a good source of iron would be pre-natal vitamins. But if you just want foods that are high in iron try peanut butter, or peanuts, liver, beans, seafood, dried fruits. Hope this helps!
