When I've moved before, I procrastinated and had to scramble for a job after the move. I want to get a head start now. Should I just send in my resume, or do employers prefer an application as soon as possible for the desired position? And if I do apply, will I be shuffled into paperwork, never again to see the light of day?

You should start looking now and just continue to look until you move and when you get there. The job market changes constantly. Feel free to send in your resume too but mention in your cover letter that you won't be there for another six months. I believe it would make you look motivated/

I would say the sooner the better. I moved to a new city and applied for months before...didnt have a job when i moved...and still do not have a permanent job 5 months later. I have been applying nonstop, have multiple degrees...yet nothing. So much competition out there. I suppose if you have a lot of experience in your field you many not need to apply too far in advance...i would say at least a few months before moving though.

I don't know much as I am just 18, but if I were you I would apply a month before the move and follow up a week before the move.

I would suggest putting out some Applications when your about three weeks from moveing. That way you can tell your interested emplyer that you can totaly devote your time to them in three weeks.

You should have already started! When I finished college with an MBA, I waited for a year before landing a job...!!!
