Here in the Philippines we have 220 volts. Only a few houses have the 110 volts for the American made products. We have both 110 & 220 in our house. Other houses uses the transformers! With the hotels, it is also 220!
Will you be staying with relatives? Anyway, the Christmas season is the happiest in the Philippines. Our streets and department stores are well lighted though with the economic crisis, some havent been lighted for the season as of this time.
Avoid displaying your cellphones or jewelries in public. Simplicity is the name of the game. Dont also show your dollars. There are many snatchers in the mall and everywhere. Some of them disguise as people who are descent looking with nice clothes. The street children are notorious, dont give alms to them. If you give one, the rest of the others will follow!
Dont stay away too far from your parents especially if you are in the malls or public places!
Like any cities in the world, crime is high! However on the other side of the coin, there are beautiful tourist spots here.
We dont have much of the nice, big parks like Disneyland! We have Enchanted Kingdom, which is a smaller version located in Laguna.
Always drink mineral water to avoid travellers diarrhea! Our McDonald's here have more people than key cities in the USA. A local counterpart if the Jollibee.
We have Shoemart Department stores everywhere. The biggest is the Mall of Asia, which is I think the 4th largest mall in the world.
Generally, my nieces from the USA & Canada, frineds from Europe are enjoying their stay here. Europeans love our sun.
For better climate, you can go to Tagaytay or Baguio. Tagaytay is nearer the airport. It is around 1 hour & 30 minutes drive depending on the flow of traffic.

Drink only bottled water is obvious, but be careful of ice, fruits and vegetables, and food that might have flies all over them.
There is just too much for you to do, so don't be afraid to try new things. Absorb as much as you can and don't become stuck up from all the attention you will get.
Get used to bringing a handkerchief with you for the smoke, dirt, and sweat you will be dealing with.
Try mango shakes, sisig, and the rest of the awesome food!
Enjoy the sites!
And the only thing that will work in the Phil is your cell phone charger, usually. Plug anything else in and kiss it goodbye!!

Two tips - 1) if someone (normally a male) admires something you have, they are usually expecting you to give it to them. My son was on one of the islands for a couple of years and if he had not been warned he would have lost belts, shoes, etc. Also, 2)you might not want to try the "balut." It is an egg that has an underdeveloped chicken or duck in it.
Other than that expect to see a lot of poverty, happy people, colorful vehicles and houses, and some good food. Hope you like rice.
As for outlets, be prepared for 220. When traveling outside the U.S., ALWAYS carry an adaptor - you never know what last minute trips you might make or detours may be necessary. My son had to detour to China for a day because of problems in landing in Manila.

The Philippines is a beautiful place. But be sure to bring mosquito repellent, and always bring bottled mineral water. Also, please keep watchful eyes on your belongings. Never trust a total stranger. If you will come here this December, well, expect to find beggars begging for alms. Try to bring with you a big plastic bag of candies for them. I hope you don't mind ;)

depends where you wnat to go, and what you want to do. if you like to see the famous beach, its boracay,
palawan is a good place if you love nature.
if you are going to luzon island, you can go to subic, where you can see monkeys crossing the street, beaches too
you can also go to baguio ( top of mountains for cooler climate and fantastic view. great for relaxing
220 is the voltage here. but if you want to go to subic and clark, they have 110 voltage there
