I think they're both great! I more of an Eartha fan but Madonna really nailed it!

Eartha Kitt. While I thoroughy enjoyed Madonna's version, there is a quality in Eartha Kitt's voice that just carried the song better.

Eartha Kitt hands down. Madonna sounds just annoying singing it- it doesn't even sound like her real voice. She sounds like a nasal voiced smoker. Eartha Kitt has a lovely voice singing it. I don't think Madonna is a bad singer though, she sounded great in "Evita"... if she had sung "Santa Baby" in that same voice, I may have liked her version better!
