Go to the hospital to have her checked ASAP! With leaking fluids, if it is indeed her water that broke, there could be a risk of infection, which won't be good for both baby or Mom. Hiccups are normal- my baby had them so much towards the end of my pregnancy- like 3 times a day! Then when he was born he still got them all the time. But he outgrew it, as your baby will. It's normal. Please go get her checked!

I'll try and answer all 3 of your questions separately.
1 - It is not unusally for a pregnant woman to experience numbness in either the hands or feet, especially as she gets closer and closer to her due date. As the baby grows in size, he/she will put increasing amounts of pressure and strain on your girlfriends' body and unpleasant side effects are the norm. Is this numbness accompanied by any swelling in her hands or feet? Pregnant women often suffer from edema (or swelling) in the hands and feet due to increased water retention. Make sure your girlfriend does not lie on her back since this can cut off circulation to the baby at this time in her pregnancy and can make swelling and numbness worse. If she (or you) are concerned, I would suggest you give your doctor a call. Every pregnancy is different.
2 - How long has she been leaking fluid? Is she constantly leaking or does it stop and start throughout the day? Is it worse when she moves? There is no warning or advance notice when a woman's water - it just happens. Some women experience a huge gush of fluid all at once, while others experience a slow trickle of fluid that doesn't stop (and is worse when she is moving) - it all depends on where the amniotic sac reptures. Amniotic fluid is usually clear in color, although is can appear somewhat cloudy. If you have any doubts at all that her water may have broken, you need to call your doctor immediately! Most doctors advise that your baby will need to be delivered within 24 hours of the water breaking, to prevent possible infection to the mother and child.
Two other things to consider: Women in the 3rd trimester usually have increasing amounts of discharge that can range in color, so this could be what you are seeing. Also, as gross as this may sound, it is not unusual for pregnant women in their last few months to leak urine. The baby puts a lot of pressure on the bladder, which is the reason that heavily pregnant women feel as though they need to use the bathroom frequently.
3 - There are lots of theories about why babies have so many hiccups but most of them involve the baby practicing breathing. Fetal hiccups are a good thing!
Good luck and congratulations!

Do ask your doctor this next visit about the fluid leaking and about the arms and legs. Being swollen is normal during pregnacy for some women. Sometimes too much salt can cause that, cut all salt out. Rest everyday.
Hicups is normal for some babies. They drink the fluid all around them and pee it back out, and doit again, we all have done it inside the womb. My baby hicupped too, and after the birth she hicuup, but it goes a way after a few months. Nothing to be concern about.
Congrats!

The arms and legs going numb can be caused by the baby pressing on nerves. Mine actually wasn't numb, but very painful because the baby rested on the sciatic nerve.
The leaking could be urine. The only way to tell is to smell it. If it smells sweet, then it is amniotic fluid. You'll know if it smells like urine.
Leaking does occur in some women, but rest assured that amniotic fluid replenishes itself every 24 hours, so she should be ok, unless it is really heavy leaking. If she feels uncomfortable about it, don't hesitate to call your doctor's office.
Babies have hiccups to prepare them for breathing. Not to worry. They don't hurt the baby. They are actually strengthening the baby and preparing it for the World!

The numbness can be b/c the baby is resting on some nerves...try having her lay on her side to relieve the pressure...as for the leaking, embarrassing as it may be, she could be leaking urine...that happens a lot since there is a lot of weight on her bladder this late in her pregnancy, but if you are concerned that she is leaking amniotic fluid ask your doctor, and don't have sex! As for the hiccups, baby gets hiccups for the same reason we do! But if she experiences the "hiccup" jerking feeling for a long period of time (over an hour) you should go to the doctor for a non-stress test (they'll hook her up to the montior to check baby's heart beat and movements)...only reason I recommended that and I don't want to scare you, I lost my baby at 37 weeks b/c he got tangled in the umilical cord, and I felt what I thought was hiccups, turns out it wasn't....I doubt that is the case for you guys, but I just wanted to warn you...I'd hate for anyone to go through that!! Good luck, you seem like you guys are going to be wonderful parents!!!

The numbness is something she should mention to her doctor/midwife. It sometimes happens if the uterus/weight of the baby is putting pressure on nerves, which can cause numbness. Please mention it at her next appt.
Fluid leaking can be urine, which of course will smell like urine. Amniotic fluid is colorless (unless meconium is present, which is something that needs to be determined by the doc/midwife/nurse) and has a sweet smell. At this point in pregnancy, it's very likely to be urine. The baby is putting pressure everywhere, especially on the bladder!
Hiccups happen because the baby is practicing breathing while in the womb and swallows amniotic fluid. They are harmless.
Good luck!

The baby puts pressure on everything, including your back..For the legs question... You need to call the hospital and talk to someone/nurse in labor and delivery. If she is leaking water already, she needs to see the doctor to determine how much she has lost and if her and baby are alright.... Can't tell you on the hiccups thing, but that is one of the things I miss the most, it was one of the sweetest feelings. Congrats to you both, hope all is well.

If she is 34 weeks and leaking fluid, she needs to be checked ASAP. A baby cannot survive long without amniotic fluid.

Hi! Congratulations on the pregnancy! Well I may have the answer to one of your questions:
Does the numbing occur only on one side of the body? If so then the baby could be somehow pinching or sitting on a nerve in his postion. If this is the case then she may experience numbing in her hands, feet, legs, or on any side of the body on which the nerve is affecting. Good luck witht the delivery!
