I am gay and do not harbor AIDS in my body.
This is a health matter, not a 'gay' issue.

5 of my gay friends died of AIDS. So don't say I'm retarded or a bigot. It's true. AIDS gets more gay men. Transmission is up 14% this year in the gay population in Australia. It is a truth.

I dont think this question was a slurr or slap to Gay men...since this is the GLBT site...its was directed, and focused at gay men...
for those to took offence...get over it...

Im a Gay man...I know my status...I am Sero-Negative
I test every 3 months...
Why, because I have an active sex life...and there are so many others who do not test...do not use protection, and many others who are Bug-chasers..
HIV risk status among Hispanic and non-Hispanic white persons aged 22--44 years, higher education was strongly associated with lower HIV risk among non-Hispanic black persons. For example, 13.5% of black college graduates were at increased risk for HIV, compared with 29.5% of blacks with less than a high school education. Overall, 12.7% of men and 10.0% of women (a total of 10.6 million persons aged 22--44 years) reported sexual or drug-related behaviors that placed them at increased risk for HIV infection

Take the Test...Take Control

Fact - everyone gets one step closer to death from the moment of birth. There's just no other exit from this plane of existence. AIDS, diabetes, cancer, etc. may speed up the process (but not necessarily) but you are dying, even if you are the most healthy thing that has ever walked the planet. Do you know your HPV status? If you are a man, do you know your PSA level? If you are a woman, do you get regular PAP smears? Your HIV status is merely one of many things you should know. AIDS never killed anyone. What kills is the secondary infections that people get because HIV weakens the immune system - and that allows what are normally insignificant organisms to suddenly become the majority. The AIDS virus is relatively weak in and of itself. Exposure to air kills it - exposure to almost every chemical known to man kills it. Look at it crosseyed and it curls up and dies. What actually KILLS is ignorance, and there is just no cure for STUPID. Get tested. Play safe.

This is a question that needs to be asked. I don't think it warranted the kind of negative response it got. I'm a bisexual male and do know my AIDS status--I don't have it. Why? Because I don't engage in risky sexual practices. I practice safe sex to a fault. It's the simplest way to know your AIDS status. However, it's smart to get tested if you're not sure--straight or gay. It's also smart to inform your partner if you ARE positive. Otherwise, it practically amounts to attempted murder.

Good question. STDs can happen to anyone who takes risks.

What about you? Do you know your AIDS status? Wake up and smell the turn of the century, it's no longer the 80's and AIDS is no longer only a threat to the male homosexual community.

Anyone: Do you know your AIDS status? If not, why not?

It applies to anyone, not just gay men. AIDS affects many people- straight, gay, male, female...

This is a really rude and inappropriate question. I take offense... even as a straight man.

Not all gay people have aids or will get it... educate yourself.
