When a person smokes, their blood vessels are constricted and you have a decrease in blood flow.
When you quit smoking, you get a much healthier environment for an egg to inplant in.
The getting pregnant is not the problem. With smokers, the implantation is the problem if the uterus is not healthy and doesn't have a good blood supply.
Please stop smoking before getting pregnant.

You should quit smoking anyway. Smoking is terrible for your health. You should have seen all the patients I took care of in the hospital who were sick, or needed surgeries, or were going to die because of problems caused by smoking.
Once you're pregnant, smoking WILL, not maybe, cause problems for your baby.
