I'm looking for a book from my childhood that was about a girl who goes to live with her aunt in an old house. She finds a doll hidden inside a wall. Either her name or the dolls name was Emily. There is some mystery as to how she got there but I believe she belonged to the aunt and had gotten lost when the aunt was just a child. Very good story for 4th graders!

This sounds familiar... but I can't remember either...

I *do* remember that the doll in A Little Princess was named Emily. And, The Velvet Rooom is worth reading whether it's the book you're looking for or not....

Good luck ... I'll keep an eye on this strand to see what comes of it. I'd like to know myself.

I remember the book. I am not sure of the name. Was it 'the Velvet Room'? (that may have been a different one I read near that time.)

If you don't get the answer here, you might call a public library children section reference librarian.
