I bought a 65 piece china set on e-bay. The platter broke in shipping so now I need a replacement. The seller did not know the name of the pattern and it isn't on the plate. I'm not even sure about the maker. The mark is in Chinese.

Try www.replacements.com. You can send them a picture of the front and back of one of your pieces and they will look it up for you. And the odds are they will also have a replacement piece for you.

Usually the brand name is on the bottom. Then you can use a book that specializes in china patterns to match. I have to warn you though, that even experts sometimes cannot come up w/ the name of the pattern. You should be able to e-mail a picture of it to a company that sells replacement pieces. But did you get the china insured? B/c they may pick up the cost.
