because when you say ophthalmologists--we are referring to a domain---something one does, a profession that includes physical things. To say Islam is talking religion---which is quite abstract. So the comparison is quite vague to me. I cant see what love has to do with an ophthalmologist converting to Islam, unless you're referring perhaps to his/her spiritual sight. And that statement "love is blind" isn't really referring to physical blindness, more like spiritual or something deep of the sort. So make clear to me you're question and i might satisfy u with a good response.

Do not hate Islam, hate the humans who do not follow the religious teachings of islam, love is blind on this planet, in every known religious membership. Doctors can not change that.
