I don't think you should have. Do what you wanted to do but still kept them in your life. Believe it or not they probably would have adapted after a while if you were really, seriously into it. But, with all that other cultures say negative about us, you have to understand why they feel you are "abandoning" your race. You just need to show you can make it all work. You walking away from your friends, just because they didn't agree with you, sort of proved their point. How long where they your friends, that you are willing to just go? In life you will NEVER find anyone who will agree with everything you say or do 100% of the time.

anyone who would try to hold you back from being the person you want to be or from doing the things you want to do cant be called a friend. a friend is a person who holds you up when youre down, who pushes you to be greater than you are, who wants only the best for you....
sounds like your 'friends' just want to control your life and have you as one of them...just another face in the crowd.
i would have done the same thing. start looking for friends who will make you feel good about yourself and will help you branch out, not ones that will try to hold you back.

I think that if you feel they were holding you back from bettering yourself, then you did the right thing. But it's also not easy to find friends. I know from personal experience. I think it would be a good idea to try to keep on friendly terms with them. But continue to be yourself. Better yourself. I think maybe down the line they will come to appreciate you more. I know you will.

You did do the right thing because if they can't accept you for who you are they don't deserve you. There are plenty of worthy people out there for you. You will make more friends. If they don't realize that you can make your life decisons, they weren't true friends in the beginning.

No you did a good thing you shouldn't have to do whatever they say just because they don't want to do what you do, they didnt sound like friends at all, you should meet some people who actually care about you

i mean u did what u had to do, so don't u stress over those friends, u hav to make the decision in ur life. and if they were friends they would hav respected ur wishes and support u instead of just shutin u down. u hav to live ur life to please u and not the people outside, so let it go and trust me order friends will come along. i know it would hurt to lose ur friends or people u love but u hav to b happy with ur life and ur life's decision. so think of it as it is there lost not urs. hang in there.

i think that u should be true to yourself. if thats how u feel thats all that matters. if they cant accept how u feel is it right to even call them friends? i know how hard it may seem but i think u should find other friends who value and respect u. good luck :)
