I have to think of a topic. It's for a demostration speech. I'm in 8th grade. Anyone have any ideas? I have to present it in front of the class--like there will be a table and I do something. Thanks in advance! :-)

Go for something you like. Ex: knitting, sewing, anything arts and crafty really, making smores =) Oh I don't know if it's allowed, but it more fun for everyone else if they can participate in some way.

good luck! hope you get an A

Choose something you like to do - I once did a speech where I talk people through how to make a simple tunic without a pattern, and demonstrated it at the same time. The class thought it was interesting, and the teacher gave me an A.

Make it something that doesn't have too many steps, that you can bring all the things you need to the table quickly, and don't let your demonstration take your mind away from your words.

Your teacher has probably told you to practice in front of a mirror. It sounds dumb, but it really is worth doing. Its amazing the faces we make when we're trying to concentrate. Have you seen that poster of Michael Jordan where he's sticking his tongue out while he's making a shot? You want folks concentrating on your words and your demo, not funny faces.

Ask your teacher for examples of subjects for past speeches. Hearing those may spark ideas for yourself.

Good luck!

I am a teacher and do this same assignment with my 8th grade students.

The best way to find a topic is to look at your hobbies and interests. If there is nothing there, take a look at something that you do regularly.

I have students that bring in animals (they are big in 4H). I have students that share how to make their favorite cookies and also have some already made and share at the end.

I actually had a boy go to the restroom to change his clothing (props are GREAT!) and came back in a pair of boxers. He demonstration was showing everyone how to get dressed in the morning.

Pick something that is not very complex. Make it fun. Show a craft. How to french braid. How to shoot a freethrow. How to throw different baseball pitches. How to decorate a cake.

Remember...have fun with it! Make sure that you have visuals too!
