Dear friend, I feel this one hits close to home. I know exactly how you feel. This past year at school we were banned from saying merry Christmas. They even stopped putting up the Christmas tree in the lobby because they were afraid they'd offend somebody. To me that's just ridiculous. What that is is people being overly politically correct. Say it how you were raised. If I'm not mistaken isn't it all basically the same thing any way? If you were raised to celebrate Kwanzaa say Happy Kwanza! The message is all the same no matter how you say it. And that is good tidings. I hope I helped, sweetie.

Your friend

Happy Holidays was a phrase that was once used to cover both the holidays of Christmas and one week later, New Year's Eve/ New Year's Day. Later it became the politically correct thing to say when the religion of the person being greeted isn't known. Happy Holidays now covers not only Christmas and New Year's Day, it also covers Kwanzaa and especially Hanukkah, as all of these holidays occur close together and some overlap at the same time each year, which is another reason people use the phrase Happy Holidays.

We can all still say Merry Christmas. I personally think that is a whole lot better than the dull happy holidays. I don't think people actually get offended. We've been celebrating Christmas for ages. So, Merry Christmas!

i'm atheist and don't love Christmas so it really is a tricky one for me. If someone needs me a Merry Christmas than i will in various of circumstances settle for the properly needs at face cost truly than attempting to intuit what's in the back of the declaring. although, I do imagine chuffed vacation journeys is mostly a extra useful determination once you're coping with human beings of unknown non secular heritage. that's quite the case even as Merry Christmas is used to point the season as an finished truly than a particular day. As an aside, i'm in various of circumstances so drained of the Christmas/vacation season that by December 25 i pick to move slowly lower than a log to get far flung from the music, the commercials, and everyone's pretend cheeriness.

personally I celebrate christmas and yule. I hate the rules about being PC and all, but I find that if you are unsure it is just polite to say happy holidays. I wouldn't want to offend someone by assuming they celebrate the christian holiday or anyother religious holiday if they don't, and believe me some people feel very offended if you say the wrong thing. I think though that being PC all the time makes me feel like I have to walk on egg shells for fear of offending someone.

Merry Christmas to you!
