I feel so bad for her please help. I think she is giving up on having one and I know that her and her husband really want to have one ... although they will adopt too.

The underlying cause of PCOS is insulin resistance. Treating this is going to be her best chance at getting pregant. Tell her to visit a reproductive endocrinologist. The treatment for PCOS is a low carb diet, exercise and going on an insulin sensitizing drug, such as metformin (1500-2550mg per day). This treatment alone has a good chance of getting her pregnant. I've met MANY women who've gotten pregnant within 6 months of doing this treatment. After she's done this for a few months, then she can add fertility treatments (such as Clomid, IUI, IVF, etc) if she's not already pregnant. I also recommend visiting http://messageboards.ivillage.com/iv-bhpcos to answer all your (or her) PCOS questions and for support. Good luck and I think you're being a great friend trying to find answers for her.

mild pcos may cause some fertility problems but it's not a death sentance (fertility-wise). Is she taking anything OTHER then clomid? She should be on something to counteract the testosterone as well. Maybe try IVF or another method.

im not sure about any of this for i have had no problems getting pregnant but i do feel for your friend. However maybe when they stop trying she will get pregnant. Sometimes the stress and tests of fertility can actually get in the way of pregnancy and then bam when you give up theres a pregnancy. Good LUCK!

IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.

hey she should leave it in gods hands i dont agree in all the new technology god has a plan for every one, as far as the clomid that gives cancer im sure she is aware of that she needs to care about her self. the baby will come when it supposed to. im sure they are dying to have their own. adpoting is the last thing they want to think about they should leave that to the age they get to old to even try any more. your a great friend good luck on any advise you may try to give her, best of luck

Acupuncture may help.

Just help her to mourn the loss of what might have been and move forward, adopting or not.

Good Luck.
