You're either ADD or just a procrastinator. Join the club. What you could try doing is working on homework before the bell rings for 1st pd, during lunch, or some other junk pds that don't matter. Usually it's much easier to focus when you know it's due next period.

Hey, bub I share the same thing with you. I just get soooo annoyed!!?? Then I put the homework aside and I draw. I draw manga(japanese pictionary) very well. Then after that I resume to my studies for a while only, and it keeps going on, and on... I focus well on the drawing part, perhaps it's just the interest that matters. I would suggest joining some friends and form up a study group. It's the best solution, I think, I have not tried it myself yet!! ^^ I'm just like sooo bewildered that there's someone out there who is like me. By the way, that reminds me, that day in the class, my teacher(who rarely compliments and gives impression that he's the scolding type) told me in front of the whole class that I'm definately smart enough, and have the ability, the important basics more than almost anyone in the class. I don't know why, but I just broke down sobbing at my desk. But till now, I still have the same problems. Looks like you'll just have to sit and take it when you face the tests and exams, huh?(Me too) Apart from spiritual and some other problems, this problem is definately putting me back on my studies!

In high school, as well as part of college, I had the same problem. I could have graduated with a much higher GPA, and it kills me to think about it. I had more late or missing assignments than I thought was possible.
Now that I am at school, I have found only one thing that works. I go to the library and sit in the same area, bring my iPod and listen to familiar music (so it's more of a background noise). If I have to write a paper, I don't use my own computer. The idea is to develop a routine and to limit the amount of distractions. Since you're in high school and you don't have a campus library, I suggest you find a place in your house or room where you will only focus on homework. Oddly enough, now that I've started doing this, the work gets done faster and I sometimes enjoy it. it has come as a great relief. I hope it works out for you!

Try bribing yourself with something. Like me, I'm always listening to my Mp3 player and if I need to do my homeowrk, I just go " When I finish this page I'll get to listen to three songs" and it goes by a little faster.
I have some friends though who schedule everything in advance to make sure they do it. Schedule a homework time telling yourself that if you don't do it then, you won't have time to do it any other time or something to that affect.
But don't worry, you're not alone. I have had that problem all pretty much my whole life. I could have had straight A's my whole school career if it weren't fro my darn procrastination. Don't be like me and regret what could've been. :)

Dude, i feel your frustration. Everytime i sit down and stare at my homework and i know i should do it or i`ll get in trouble, bad grade and i`ll be tired? I know. This is what i do. I go get a snack and i sit down to do my homework and everytime i get a problem done, i take a small bite of my snack and i bribe myself. You could also do it with other stuff like a book. No t.v though. U say in your head i wanna another bite so i better finish this problem. Sometimes it works but if it doesn`t i don`t know.

I figured out the reason we dont do them very often Is because We Feel like, The Teachers wont grade them,This will hardly count towards are grades, We think there wasted efforts.
BUT THERE NOT!
they are a BIG part of your grades.
When I rarely or never turned my homeworks In I got Average or below average grades. But when I started to turn them in MY GRADES INPROVED ALOT.
Trust me when you do all those stupid homeworks assignments you'll feel good and proud of yourself.. and your grades will be WAY UP ^
Good Luck :)

You might be thinking of something else other than doing your homework. Sometimes I have trouble concentrating on doing my homework, and it can be difficult (or like you said, "annoying") because my mind seemed to focus on more than one thing or seemed to drift away.
I don't remember exactly what I did when this happened to me. I guess, pushing myself to do my homework or to read wasn't very effective. It's like I tried to feed my brain with the information I need to learn, but it wouldn't grasp it.
I probably stopped...and rested for a while. I think that's what I did.

maybe you have ADD... Attention Deficiet Disorder. My folks you to tell me I just "didn't apply myself" but it turned out to be ADD. ADD isn't something that goes away as you get older... you just learn to cope with it.
The other answer may be that your school work is TOO easy and doesn't challenge you enough. Ask your teacher for a couple extra credit problems that would be "harder than usual". See if those questions spark your interest.
