Sodom, if it had ever existed, was situated somewhere deep underneath what is now known as the Dead Sea. So, if it is was a volcano that erupted and destroyed it, that nameless volcano is also buried in the same locale...
In Genesis, God is claimed to have 'rained burning coals and embers from above' - namely the skies ! If so, it would more possibly have been a meteor, and not a volcano...
But, I would rather share the opinion of most historians - that the whole episode is a fabricated myth, to scare and frighten the poor 'believers' about the 'wrath of God' !
