Hi, I used to work in Wendys, and yes, it is fast because the employees are on a timer. In short, they need to achieve as best drive thru time as they can - that's extremely important company policy. The change needs to be ready to the next dollar, and the cashiers are trained for that. The sandwiches are not premade and kept hot, I assure you of that, they are made just as you order them, McDonalds on the other hand pre-makes them and has them ready.
The sandwich-makers in Wendys are trained to make about 10-15 burgers a minute, yes it is possible with practice.
Drive thru time needs to be below 90 sec and the counter starts when you pull in so that includes the time you order. That's the company's goal and that's why drive-thru needs to be so fast.

With drive-thru service, I don't know if there is such a thing as "too fast". I like that they always get my order right. I hate when I go to other fast food places. It never fails that you drive away only to find that they have forgotten to give you something or else gave you the wrong food. I would just enjoy the service at Wendy's and hope they keep up the good work.

Funny you mentioned this I just read an article in the paper that says they do this through a company in NJ. If you noticed the voice you ordered w/and the person you gave your money to are totally diff. When you go to order it goes through a call center, then they work so effienctly to place the order that the employees in the store can concentrate 100% on getting your order together. They says it helps them get more ppl through the drive-thru which ups their profits. SO yes it's fast but they want it that way...hey at least the food is hot and most times much more accurate now.
Enjoy the fruits of the technology age!!
As for the employee w/the change WEIRD...maybe she just guessed and was right.

Our local McDonalds and Wendys are compete for that prize. At McDonalds the line is always ridiculously long and they never get the order right. At Wendys they dont have any food cooked so no matter what ya order, you are gonna be stuck at the window for 10 minutes while they cook it. The last time i went there, i literally sat for 10 minutes waiting for my food and all i ordered was a chicken sandwich and fries.

The Wendy's here in South Florida are pretty quick and I've only had one prob w/ my order not being completely right. Now I don't know about the workers knowing about the domination of $$ part *but that subscribes to my paranoid alien abduction theory...any fast food drive through that is fast and accurate MUST be getting extraterrestrial help* ^__^

I wish the Wendy's around my area were that fast...I feel like most of the time it would be quicker if I got out of my car and made the sandwiches myself.

Its their management,, they got some educated lot behind the scenes...
They keep the sandwiches ready - and hot - during the peak time, and they know what people usually give (cash bills) for standard meal orders...
