This sounds like an interesting assignment! What grade is it for?

You are fuzzy about the assignment. Do you have to write one line, or two, about each chapter? Do you know what the assignment really is? You have to read and understand the book quite well to write a poem!

First, you are going to have to read the book. Bellow is an excellent author and you should enjoy it. After reading the book, scan through each chapter separately and write down your thoughts on each chapter. If you can't summarize the chapter, just jot down what happens and, since you have read the book, how the happenings contribute to the plot or to the overall main point of the book. After you have done this for all seven chapters, shorten your thoughts into one, or two, lines for each chapter.

Remember, a poem does not have to rhyme (unless it is a requirement for the assignment)! It may be easier to think of a song you like, or just a rap rhythm. Then just try to get the words you use in each line to fit into that rhythm scheme. Don't try to get them to rhyme.
