Look on the underside near the tail end, there is a small area where the scales are a little different, that is the hole.

YES you will know when it poos because the poo is startlingly large and it smells pretty bad. Good news is it's fairly solid and easy to remove from the snakes home.

Tip- if it has trouble shedding - cannot seem to shed all skin over several sheddings, put it in the tub with an inch or so of warm water - supervised - for a few minutes. That will help it shed.

I found an article related to the caring of snakes. It said, "Defecation should occur at least once every 90 days for adult animals" so I guess that means that snakes definitely POO!!

I would say 3, I never really smelled anything, Maybe it was the worst when I was cleaning out my snake's cage, but even then it wasn't that bad. I only had a baby snake though before I got rid of it, but i heard adult snakes take really big dumps

haven't you read the childrens book, "Everybody Poops"??

That includes snakes.

the hole is under the flap a couple inches away from the tip of the tail on the underside of the snake.

A snakes butt is called a cloacal opening. It is located near the end of the tail.

Here is a pic of a plainbelly water snakes cloacal opening.
