Usually about 1 to 2 months after giving birth, your menstrual cycle will start again. Around this time, You may or may not experience a severly sharp pain that will bring you to your knees. This is when an egg is release for the first time after delivery. It's very painful, but will go away within a few minutes. Also, Have contractions for a couple of months after giving birth is also something that is normal for some women, it's a way of the utreus to return to it's normal size. It takes about 18 months for a uterus to return to pre-pregnancy size after giving birth.

I hope this helps.

My pains got worse after I gave birth to my son and continued for the next year during each period. My cycle didn't regulate for about 3-4 months too. But, I would ask your doc at your next appointment just to be on the safe side, but it sounds normal.

I had my son on May 27. I had little bleeding after delivery. I still have really bad pains when I am on my period. I think its all normal, but your doctor will be able to tell you for sure. When I had my postpardom checkup everything was fine. So I am assuming pains are normal.

Sounds like what I went through. My first period lasted for eight days, heavy, and had contraction like pains. Hope your OB can help you with a pain reliever.
