There are so many ways to get so many answers! It's easy to count the biggies like Burger King and Mickey D's, however if you want to know how many independently owned,
small town little grease joints there are in this country, you're looking at one heck of a project!
I'd say that there are probably around 200,000
fast food restaurants in the whole country but that number will seem low when you consider that the average, 50 square mile town (my own)
has more than 25, you're looking at about one for every 2 square miles in the U.S...

A tough Q...
Coz we might get the data on Std. Franchises like McDon.BK/Wendy etc... in US and around the world - but where do we draw the line for Fast Food..??
There are many local type fast food shops around, and they are fly by night too...
Third category is Fast Food on Wheel Carts....
Don't want to mention the Fourth...
Finally, an assessment can be made by probability/population/local municipalities... but can NEVER be accurate - coz this kind of info changes every minute,
