I fell into the trap around 8 to 10 years ago while working at a large corporation and because of diversity issues I was afraid of offending someone. Not any longer, I have gone back to wishing people a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. My reasoning is that when you go into most public places, including department stores, they are decorated, and people are working for the Christmas Season! Therefore I have taken back my right to wish people a Merry Christmas but, I premise it by saying "May I Wish You A Merry Christmas" 98% of the time people are grateful that I have said Merry Christmas. Like myself, people are getting tired of offending others by extending our Holiday Greetings in a way that it was meant to be. If someone wished me a Happy Hanuka, I would graciously say Thank You and be grateful for their wishes.

Secondly, Yes, I do not appreciate people writing XMAS, it is the CHRIST MAS Season and people are being sucked into the delusion that this is not what it is about. If people are non believers, than do not participate. I won't be offended. I am not a religious nut by any means, but I feel stripped of my right to celebrate one of the most important events in our History (as Christians).

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND HAVE A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I say Merry Christmas to everyone. It's how it's always been. Most of the time, older people get offended when I try to be politically correct and say Happy Holidays.

Doesn't bug me when people write "xmas." I do it sometimes.

:)

I say "Merry Christmas," unless somebody tells me that they celebrate another holiday before I say it. But if they don't tell me and I get it wrong, I apologize if they get offended and offer the proper salutation after what they tell me what they prefer I say.
And I don't like Xmas. Just take the time and write the whole word! It really doesn't take much more effort to spell it out properly because I know it means christmas, but I personally still say "X" and "mas" in my head. AND X MAS ISN'T A WORD!!!

I say Merry Christmas and Yeah it did bug me when people put Xmas but it is on them and so now it does not bug me as much anymore because Christmas may not mean the same thing to them as it does to me.

I don't like the Xmas thing. I do say Merry Christmas for the most part. But most of the people I know observe it. However with strangers I say Happy Holidays. You don't know if they are Jewish or might celebrate Kwanzaa.

When people say "happy holidays" to me, I say and for me that would be Merry Christmas - and, 100% of the time, people will say, Merry Christmas for me, too.

the Xmas versus Christmas doesn't bother me. Think of the X as the cross that Christ was on.

Only on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day-- they look at you like you're nuts when you say it on July 27th.

I don't normally say anything to people I don't know. Just "thanks" and "have a nice day". If they say it first, I will say it back. I am not bothered by people who write x-mas. Why should it matter anyway?
