Well, my son is 7 months old and I feed him breast milk several times a day. I also feed him rice, oatmeal or barley cereal mixed with cooked, pureed sweet potatoes, pears, apples, butternut squash, zuchinni or fresh mashed bananas or avacados. They also really like yogurt. I mix fruits and veggies with cereal so that he gets his fruits and veggies while he gets filled up by the cereal.

There is a book called "Super Baby Food" by Ruth Yaron that tells you how to make your own baby food. It's really easy, inexpensive, and much healthier than canned food. It tells you which foods to introduce at what time and how much to feed them etc.

Breast feed cause Formula is not that good, the baby can be bigger and more of a chance to be obese. I know a baby that has been breast-fed up to 2 and a half years old so 8 months old isn't that bad.

Everyone talks about breastfeeding. I was not able to with my 2 kids. My milk never came in with my second and I wasn't producing enough for my first. I did formula. As hard as it was I got through it. The paediatrician that I use was my paediatrician. I am now 30 with a 1 and 2 year old. I just love the old fashioned in him. We lived through alot of things and I think older doctors understand this. At 9 months he said to switch from formula to whole milk. Every doctor is different, but I am very healthy and trust him completely!

while breast milk is best, it's not the only food your baby should be getting at 8 months. Your child has an interest in food and should be able to explore different foods and textures. Foods like potatoes, squash, cottage cheese, yogurt. If he has teeth you can even try baby crackers, cheese, bread, meat, cheerios. Just buy these items or make them yourself and blend/puree some of them. If he is picking up things he will love to pick up the crackers or little pieces of cheese etc..and feed himself.

mashed potatoes, start giving stemed vegetables and pasta,.breast milk is not the main source of food at 8 months if you can breast feed then great for the first six months max after that they need to start learning food textures and varietys so they will become tolerable to other foods andbecome healthy non fussy little eaters, kids at 8 months love to play with food and taste lots of different things

All my children ate versions of what the family ate. select a vegie or fruit or two, puree/mash and serve. dont add salt or sugar. avoid the usual things which may be problematic: nuts, eggs, seafood, artificial additives. increase from a teaspoon or two a couple of times a day in line with the babys' appetitite. keep up breast feeds. introduce a sippy cup of filtered water gradually.

Breast milk is always the best but at this age they will probably be eating a lot more solids.
