If you forget or lost your password to the router usually you can't. Once it is set, unless you're a binary hacker it is quite impossible to crack it.
I suggest resetting the router to factory default. The password is in your manual or if you have a Netgear, Linksys, DLink routers you can find it on the Internet.
Once reset, login using the default password and username. Usually under wireless security tab you're able to change the password but not the username typically "admin".
Viola!

Type in the old passoword, and then somewhere in the setup will be a choice to change your password. if you don't remember the password, you will have to reset your router and reconfig it.
To reset router, hold the reset button in on the back unplug it and plug it back in with the button still depressed. once router boots up, release button, turn off and turn back on. Or refer to your manual that came with the wireless router.

It depends on the router. You also have to have the original password for the router to be able to log in and affect the router's settings.
Usually you do this through your web browser. For example:
On a linksys router you would open your web browser and put the following in the url:
http://192.168.1.0.1
You would then log in and click on the appropriate tab for security settings.

You need to login the router setup page. Its really hard to provide any further answer without knowing what kind of router you have. Is it Dlink, Belkin, Linksys?
