Most likely those people aren't making the connection between the fallen from war and the cost of freedom. The USA was born with blood on it's hands. People don't often see what they are defending.

Before the mid-term elections, conservatives and Republicans here on Yahoo Answers were howling for an increased U.S. military presence in Iraq, that "Liberals" were holding this great nation back with their "cowardly" bleeding hearts and such and that we need to "do the job right". Then, Democrats took the election and the almighty scary word appeared . . .the DRAFT . . .
Was it just I, or, was there literally a suction sound across this entire nation as the Conservatives and Republican armchair Fantasy War Patriots gasped in utter horror? Pseudo-Patriots are the worst cowards.

What's the point of this? I doubt every member of the USMC is a liberal.

I don't get this.

Oh, and the draft thing? The sucking in of air was universal, because a known Bush basher and war critic proposed it. Pure hypocrisy.

for you people who ask what are we fighting for and crying about the draft or how doe's it help America by us being in Iraq , then there is no use talking to you or explaining as there is no way you would understand, you will always be so scared that you will be called on to help defend this country you will employ any excuse you can latch on to as a excuse that you don't believe in war or any number of things ,why don't you just say out right you are a gutless wonder, and let it go.

Today there seem to be too many who would have others fight for them to remove freedom, not defend it. Attack others before you think they might attack you is the battle cry of many in the republic these days. I remember it used to be you fought to protect the right to live without the fear of attack, and if attacked, you fought back with real moral authority. If you attack first, you have surrendered your moral authority and your freedom.

Real men were not anxious to go to war to defend freedom. They did what was necessary. Sometimes war is necessary. Usually it isn't.

True patriots swear allegiance to their COUNTRY - NOT one of their country's political parties. I thank you for your service, but I think you have done a DISservice to your fellow soldiers by your choice of words here.

What is your problem? Who are the "Red"? What defense of freedom? Oh you mean operation Iraqi freedom? Why don't you ask the 150,000 plus dead Iraqi citizens if they are cherishing their liberation.
