In other words, people that don't know you will judge you on what you wear, the way you dress, the things you do to your body as well as how you behave. These things are all your real life "avatar". So doesn't it make sense to insure that the way you present yourself is the way you want people to perceive you?

I was more specifically referring to people who wear outrageous costumes, tattoos, body piercings, scarification, etc. They are usually the first to be offended & act defensive when people are shocked or disgusted. But why do it, unless that is the reaction they are seeking?

Absolutely. Studies have shown that people form their opinions of you within the first 30 seconds of meeting you-the way you dress, speak, your manners- all of it.

By the way, I think my avatar is fairly accurate of myself. Although she has a better wardrobe than I do.

Generally, first impressions are skewed and bias based on things you find to be immediately attractive or unattractive. I agree that people will judge you, but that's the problem.

I feel it is important to present yourself well when you go out, since you never know who you will see. But at the same time, it really comes down to just getting by day by day and being happy with yourself and where you are in life.

I don't wear a lot of fancy clothes, I don't always do my hair or makeup, but that doesn't show anything about who I really am and what I am able to do. If people do judge me on those superficial and nonsensical things, then it tells me a lot about them and who they really are. People who are quick to judge are often hypocritical and they will probably miss out on a lot. Its sad many people follow that mentality.
