Has anyone else had severe insomnia during pregnancy? I often only sleep about an hour a night, and never more than three. I can't catch up during the day either, with my 2-yr old son! Just wondering if anyone has had the same problem.

Sorry, forget to mention I am at 27 weeks. This has been going on for about a month.

I couldn't sleep either for a couple of months early on but now I'm sleeping better at 33 wks. I think it will change for you also.

Don't ever take the sleeping pills route!!

1. They will damage your liver big time and you can get into serious health problems.

2. You will get hooked up on them and you won't be able to have a normal life any more if you don't take your pills everyday.

The sleeping pills industry is damaging our health by capitalizing on our ignorance, and by distracting people from effective and natural ways to deal with this problem. I had been taking prescription sleep medications [Ambien] for over 5 years. It stopped working and I simply took more. Still did not work. Nights were very difficult - medication put me to sleep but I would wake up after 2–3 hours with a strong sympathetic response (fast pulse, pounding heartbeat, wide awake alert). It was a very difficult cycle to break. I was really in bad shape due to lack of sleep.

After years of struggling I was able to cure my insomnia naturally and pretty fast. I followed the Sleep Tracks sleep optimization program, here is their official web -site if you want to take a look: http://www.insomniacure.net

Ohhh..and Good Luck!

i am 27 weeks as well and i am finding it really hard to sleep as well - i sleep for about an hour and then wake up - i assume it natures way of preparing the body for the sleepless nights to follow.

It is my first but i cant catch up either as i work all day and then like to try and do some exercise - i could sure use a nap now though

i know exactly how you feel.and it feels like its getting worse!i wake up for no reason or because i have to pee probly once an hour.i also have a two year old and he likes to wake me up in the middle of the night as well.and naps are out of the question.i think my body is trying to adjust to it but slowly.i usually have no energy for a couple hours after i get up but i found that moving around actually gives me energy.its hard but your body will adjust.trust me!!being pregnant also makes you feel more tired so once the babys a few months old you wont feel you need as much sleep anyways!good luck!!

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

yes, I have had this same problem and I don't know what to do about it. Some have suggested milk, but if I drink milk i get sick. I have no idea and I really know how you feel. I have a three year old son.

My doctor took me off Xanax when I found out I was pregnant. He said it was too dangerous.
