You do 365 days times 24 hours, times 60 minutes, times 60 seconds. So:
1 year = 365 days
1 day = 24 hours
365 days = 8760 hours
1 hour = 60 minutes
8760 hours = 525600 minutes
1 minute = 60 seconds
525600 minutes = 31536000 seconds
365 x 24 x 60 x 60 = 31536000

365 days x 24 hours x 60 minutes x 60 seconds = seconds in a year.
365 x 24 x 3600
365 x 2.4x 36000
365 x 86400
3.65 x 100 x 86400
3.65 x 8640000
31,536,000
However, on average over, four years, there are 31557600 seconds in a year. This is because very fourth year there is an extra day, remember.
Now, in a leap year there are 31449600.
I have not yet considered the sidereal year, etc. The sidereal year is the time required for one complete revolution of the earth about the sun, relative to the fixed stars, or 365 days, 6 hours, 9 minutes, 9.54 seconds in units of mean solar time.

There are 525,600 minutes in a year (yea, they were correct in that song from Rent) multiply that by 60 because there are 60 seconds in a minute. Then you'll get your answer.
525,600minutes in a year * 60seconds in a minute = [insert answer here]seconds in a year
Yeah, at this point I don't even need to give the answer cause everybody else did. On top of that, this is set up so you can use your calculator at this point.

If there are 365 days in a year, and 24 hours in a day, and 60 minutes in an hour, how many seconds are in an hour then multiply backwards from here. This way you still do your homework and use your brain.

On average over 4 years there is 31557600 seconds in a year. This is because very forth year there is an extra day, therefore making the other answers technically wrong.
Basically there is 365.25 days per year. That is how I came to the above answer.
In a 365 day year there is 315836000 seconds.
In a 366 day year (yes you all forgot the leap year) there is 31622400.

Get out your calculator and start multiplying... you'll need to know how many seconds in a minute, how many minutes in an hour, how many hours in a day and how many days in a year. Multiply them together. Viola.
DO YOUR OWN HOMEWORK!!!
