Every player who plays in Europe qualifies for European Player of the Year, NOT just players born in Europe. Thus, Ronaldinho was a contender for the Golden Ball but he lost to Cannavaro.

FIFA WORLD Player Award is an award for commerical and offensive players, such as Ronaldinho, Henry, Zidane, Eto'o.
Cannavaro will never win it that is for sure.
I can give you some examples such as Nedved or Shevchenko who won the ballon d'or, but as we all know they're not brazilian and they're not players everyone knows about and talks about, and so that's why they didn't win FIFA WORLD Player Award!

Of course he will. Cannavaro is the best damn soccer player in the world. If we rate Cannavaro 9/10 than Ronaldinho who is second would get a 4/10 rating. Cannavaro is the best player in the world no doubt about it.

Why not? Don't forget he's the man who lifted the ultimate prize in football. It doesn't really matter if he's an offensive or defensive player. Yes, maybe history favoured offensive players more in the listing but don't forget, how can the captain of the Italian-winning squad not win the title? Paolo Maldini came closest to winning it in 1995 and finished second behind George Weah.

I sincerely doubt that,because the FIFA Player of the year is world wide so he would have to deal with alot more players.I think specifically he'd have the problem against the Brazilians(Ronaldinho has won it what?About 3 times now?).

Yeah, I hope and wish he wins. He's the best and he deserves the European Player of the Year. It will be very great if he wins the FIFA Player of the Year.

He comes from a corrupt team and was not solid in all of this World cup games, my answer is NO.
They should give it to Maldini for outlasting everybody.
