I guess that anti-abortion are intolerant and tyranical people, possibly fanatics also whereas people defending animal rights are most probably a more sensitive and peaceful type of individuals

Most of the anti abortion extremists are religious fanatics. We know from history (and from our present) that religious fanatics kill easily for their beliefs.
Most of the animal rights extremists have just taken their love towards animals to the extreme.
Your question is good - it made me think that no real animal right extremist should be willing to take the life of another animal (be that a human being).
Of course, people are different and you can always find strange people fighting for strange causes when, in fact, there is something completely different on their mind.

"Way more"? I suspect if you compare the dollars amount of damage caused animal rights people who have bombed buildings, fire-bombed places, assaulted people, terrorized children, created public nuisances, killed animals (on purpose in some cases- and then dumped the bodies illegally), etc. that the dollar amounts would be pretty equal.

Let's now measure in terms of hypocrisy. PETA is for animal rights and kills animals (as a part of a national policy). Pro-life extremists rarely kill babies- although this by no means excuses the insanity of the bombings or killings.

I dislike extremists and do not agree with any of them, but to try to justify one set of whackos by saying 'at least they are better than this set' is pretty lame, isn't it?
