I need to attend formal ball on Dec 16th. Where can I find a quick and practical lesson in short amount of time?

Try www.ballroomdancers.com for the dance directory. Hmm, for Dec 16 you only have like 2 weeks.... I'd say, if it is of any importance, you migh look into finding a private instructor. If nothing there - look into www.ndca.org - many professionals register with that website.
Also try community colleges in your area - they usually offer inexspensive ballroom classes in the evening.

Have you tried the Yellow Pages? There are dance studios all over. A church, a school or city college. You are assuming that you have some talent in dancing and can remember basic steps well. Stick to the simple stuff, like the fox trot, the cha cha and the waltz. Forget all the spins and twirls. Tell your teacher exactly what you want and how much time you have and go from there. Have you tried your mom or your aunt Sally?
