I had it tested and the scanner calls for the pre-catylic converter o2 sensor, which I ordered. As I drove it later on, the truck ran real rough, low RPM at idle, and as I accelerated, it had little power. The Check Engine light, which was already on, started to flash for about a minute, as the truck ran poorly. After about 60 seconds the light went back to solid as the truck ran normal again. Will the o2 sensor fix that problem as well, or do I have something worse waiting for me...
Thanks in advance for your responses.

If the check engine lamp was flashing, that can only be caused by an engine misfire. Check your plugs and wires. A fouled plug will cause an O2 sensor to stay lean, or cause a lean code to be stored. Fix the misfire first.

NEVER replace any part till you know the problem. The scanner found a malfunction code, it didn't say the sensor was bad. Don't waste money, find the problem. You need a scanner that will read the sensors while the engine is running and it will tell you the status of each and you can diagnose the problem.

If you have one bad sensor that deals with the Air/ Fuel mixture too include the O2 sensors, Manifold Air Pressure sensors, Air Intake sensors and Fuel Line pressure sensor. It can cause major damages to the motor becuase the computer cannot figure out what it has to do to make the motor run properly. Just like we cant run threw a wooded area without useing our eyes. SO as soon as possible replace the sensors before either the motor gets warpage, the catalyc converter gets to hot and ya have to replace it. Also check your gas cap's seal, it never hurts, a fualty seal can cuase improper fuel/air mixture which can lead to premature sensor failure.

It doesn't matter if you fix the O2 sensor if the car is having poor oxygen content in the exhaust. See a mechanic.

no but put the o2 sensor so you can run the test again to see if there is more problems. It could be the fuel filter.

Advance Auto will check your car's computer for the diagnostic code and sometimes even suggest a repair trail to follow.
