I have seen such a delicate thing trampled on like dead weeds....

More so than at any time in history, But I am speaking of Unconditional Love. having unity with God in your heart. Your very good question gives me a flash that perhaps we may have to let it work its miracles In secret & in silence. because coarse ,ignorant people tend to destroy what others have then wonder why they can never have anything.

There is a place for love in society today only if you put it there yourself. You need to have the hope for love no matter how many roses you see trampled on and no matter how many hardships you face because without your own hope your question will never be answered.

yes
we need more of it, and less of possessiveness which people mistake for love

If you're in a crowd and everyone without exception is uncaring or rude selfish , its very aggravating and just awful,
but if some people (the more, the better) show some care and consideration, politeness, or a bit of care, it makes a huge difference.

First there is just that politeness stuff which is great, but then when you have really good friends who really appreciate your existence and you care and love to see them, wow !

Good question!

Yes, there's hope (I am an optimist).

I don't know why people are so careless w/love. Some aren't. Maybe they take it for granted after awhile instead of remembering to treasure it and value it.

Glad to see a unique, well-thought out question on here!

Matthew 24:12 And because sin shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

Does sin abound now?

Pornography
Jude 1:18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts.

What kind of society can exist without love?

Love of humanity, love of nature, love of beauty in all it's forms,

A beautiful sunset, the sound of birdsong, the beauty of the ocean, a childs smile, the laughter of the elderly....there is so much to love!!!

I certainly hope so.

And pass the salt.

It very definitely does. It keeps the race going -- sexual reproduction and nurturing of family are forms of love.
