For point a, you are given x = 7 but NO y. For point b, you are given y = -7 but NO x. Is this clear? You are also given a linear equation, which is: 5x - 2y=9. You will need to plug and chug using BOTH points. I will now use point a knowing that x = 7. So, I will plug 7 for x in the linear equation to find y for point a. Clear? We have: 5(7) - 2y=9 35 - 2y = 9 Next: subtract 35 FROM BOTH SIDES of the equation. We get: -2y = 9-35 -2y = -26 DIVIDE BOTH SIDES by -2 to find y. We get: y = -26/-2 y = 13. Point a = (7,13). +++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Next: Plug and chug to find point b. We have: 5x - 2(-7)=9 5x + 14 = 9 5x = 9-14 5x = -5 x = -5/5 x = -1 Point b = (-1, -7) Is this clear? Guido

Easy
y=y(x)=6x+5
y(x=0)=6(0) +5 = 5; therefore, (0,5)
y(x=3)=6(3)+5=18+5=23; therefore, (3,23)
