Your gynecologist will be able to recommend a low-dosage birth control pill to help regulate your cycle.
Just be sure to discuss your concerns or problems regarding your monthly cycle and be honest with him/her. They will be able to assist you with choosing the right kind.

No each woman is different. You will probably find you have to try several different kinds before you find one that you like or has fewer side effects. All birth control pills will probably do it's job preventing pregnancy, it's all the side effects that come along with them. A big one for some women is weight gain - weight gain from retaining water. Yasmin is a newer brand that was designed specifically for this problem. But Yasmin wasn't right for me. It made my acne flair up and after taking Yasmin for 3 weeks I was nauseated every single day for the entire day. Both problems ceased as soon as I stopped taking Yasmin. But others rave about it.

At least you are taking the initiative to learn about the different kinds and getting suggestions before-hand. Make sure you talk with your doctor about the different brands available today & which would be best suitable for you.

I use Nuvaring, I think it's the easiest out there, its a rubber ring, put it in your vagina for 3 weeks and take out for a week, because it's there for 3 weeks the amt of hormones is steady and won't be a yo-yo if you were taking the pill and took it different times of the day (or forgot). And my huband does not feel the ring when we are intimate.

I have been on bc for 20 years and tried pills, patch and ring is best for me. Depending on your body compisition you may want to go with what you doc recommends.

Good luck!
