I'm in 2nd Year of College, and the Course I'm going to be taking next year, the professor is offering an optional field trip for four days to Florida, and a $100 deposit is due by Friday Next week, it's said that the trip will cost up to 200, but most should be covered by a grant.

Now I'm wondering should I tell my mom, I have the feeling that she would want me to go. Because money is a little tight, but it would be the money I make from my work study job. But I think it would really be neat to go, and i want to go because it would be the 1st time I get to ride a plane and actually remember it(last time I rode one I was a baby).

So what should I do, should I go, should I tell her now or wait til later to tell her?

You should definitely go. Your mom should know that you are in college and you want to experience new things and see new places. Thats perfectly normal and this is the perfect time to do it. I would give her a courtesy call and let her know basically that you have decided to go. Call her out of respect but let her know in a bit of an authoritative tone that you are old enough to make good decisions for yourself and this is something that you've weighed the pros and cons for and decided that with such little cost involved it was the perfect time for you to travel... I mean after all...
1. The trip was offered by a professor...(so it has to be educational) Its not like your spending the money to do the spring break thing...in Cancun (arent you being so absolutely responsible for that alone)
2. Its only 200.00 you cant even drive to some places for that.
3. You absolutely deserve a little bit of a break, when you are hard at work and all you can see is the same campus day in and day out its liable to send you to the moon...every one deserves a little vaca...( and remind again that is an educational one)
4. You absolutely want to show her that she can trust you.
5. Make sure you bring her something totally nice back!!!

HAVE FUN!!!

Be a salesman...tell her that for the small investment of 200 dollars will go a long way towards the fulfillment of (1) a dream and (2) the college experience...

And don't forget her on Christmas...lol

Good Luck!!

This is a once in a life time chance to go. If you have the money then give it to your professor. Tell your mom sometime down the road. Go have fun!!

You should probably go. Not to long I myself took a trip somewhat like yours. There fun and you get to meet new ground. But I think you should tell your mom.Why save it for tomorrow when you can do it today. You might regret not telling her sooner.

Ask her, or talk to the teacher abt it and ask him if he could help you pay for it, I did that once and paid the teacher back when I could, he was a nice guy...
