i have been told that you can only get them from Dell? is this true?? can i go to best buy and get them?? Please help.

Well here the deal with Dell No ONE CARRIES THE DELL CARTIDGES
and if you get them refilled they may not work and if they do the most they will is 2 times this is becasue dell put a chip in the cartriges that tells the PC that its bad so you have to buy them from dell so your going to pay sooner or later

I don't know this for a fact, but someone told me Staples may carry one that is similar.
I do know that Walgreens will fill your old cartridges for really cheap. I would suggest you take your cartridges to them and see if that will help. They are usually open all night.
Unfortunately, I have the same problem myself. I hate to pay a fortune for Dell cartridges and I have also been told that Dell is the only place to get them. (So, my printer is not working now).
Just check what I suggest and I really wish you good luck. I am going to do it myself but it is not a priority right now. This sounds like it is definitely a priority for you.

Yes it is true that you can only get them from Dell. However you can use regular carttridges but that involves modifying the printer but i advise against because it voids the warranty. I had it done to my computer 4 yrs ago by someone else.
