Sometimes the noise is as if more water has been released in the system but what worries me is seconds before I hear the more water getting released, I hear water drops as if there is some leak in the system. Is it normal or does my heating system really needs to be fixed?

you have air in your pipes the dripping noise is because you have a lot of air and very little water check the pressure on the boiler it should be around 12-18 pounds. I recommend that your plumber come over and check your fast fill combo out to make sure it's working properly and then have him purge the system out.

We have baseboard hot water heating system and our baseboards tend to make a popping noise when the water is being forced through the pipes but if you hear a drip, drip sound you may have a pin hole in one of the pipes (like we did several times...old house). Go into the basement and locate the area underneath the floor where you hear the dripping noise loudest and see if anything is wet or the hot water pipe appears to be sweating. If it is, you'll either need to call a plumber or handy man. Fortunately, I'm married to a handy man!

Hot water baseboard systems pump the hot water through all of those radiators. When the pumping starts and the baseboards heat up there are a bunch of perfectly-normal but wet sounding noises that are heard.

hot water flows through the pipe in the baseboard to heat the elements...i dont know about the leaking sound but its normal to hear the water flow through the pipe...at least in my house it is.
