I have this friend that I havent seen in like a 2 years, well I just started talking to her again and she's having problems with her boyfriend, everytime her and her boyfriend fight she comes to my house and spends the night, eats my food, smokes my cigarettes, and doesnt want to leave. If she does leave she comes right back.Am I being selfish for wanting my life back without her in it all the time? How do I tell her to stop coming over all the time...?I want to be there for my friends but I have a life with a husband and a two year old son.by the way she has a 4 month old son and no where else to go besides to my house...I feel sorry for her but Im getting tired of not being able to have a life in my own house..plus im going broke..Help!

You must have a heart to heart talk with this friend. I you love and care about her. If not and you feel you won't regret letting her go, then do so. Otherwise, have a nice conversation with her about the rules of friendship. "Friendship is like money, easier made than kept". If she wants to keep you as a friend she needs to understand that she needs to stop spending you up like its okay. Pretty soon she will exhaust you, then there will be nothing left for you to give her. She should be understanding in that you need some space. And maybe you could suggest that she seek some counseling for her issues. Tell her that you are all tapped out, you haven't much left to give, you have a family just like she does. You want to maintain a friendship as long as she can respect that. Again... If this does not get through to her you may have to let her go. You cannot sacrifice your life, your family for her. She would not do the same for you. Tell her so if it really comes down to the wire. Lovingly but as a matter-of-factly. Good Luck

i can tell you this that have a sit down with her and tell her that she cant keep coming over my house, eating my food, smokes my cigarettes and etc because i have beautiful life that i don't want to ruin with my child and husband. also say that i know you having a bad time right now you need to step up and leave his butt because you don't need no man that fight you or gets into a argument with you need a man that love you from the bottom of his heart. then maybe she think about what you said and leave him and stop coming over your house eat food, smoke cigarettes and etc unless she really want to see you.

you need to talk to her, because it's not right for her to depend on you all the time. you need your own life, and you refuse to spend it taking care of her.

Well, talk to her and tell her that she's welcome to your house but not that welcome. It's like she's using you to be her comfort zone--and the fact that she eat your food or consume everything that you have. I mean it's nice to help and all that but there's always a limitation.
