I'm 36wks 2days and my due date is Dec.23rd. I would like to know is there anything I can do to make myself have contractions or go into labor?

My sister was 36 weeks when she delivered for both her pregnancies.
She says: take a warm bath, relax, have sex without a condom doggy style (rough), eat a can of pineapple juice and drink the juice, and then relax and watch a movie. She did this and started having contractions an hour later. She also found these instructions somewhere on the net and both her kids are very healthy.

She also suggests not getting an epideral as this will slow down contractions. Also, don't go in until your contractions are 4 min apart because they may try stoping your labor.

I apologize if this answer offends anyone.

How To Have Contractions

I walked around our apartment complex 4 times and went into the hospital that night with contractions 3-5 minutes apart, but I was only a week away from my due date. I was only dialated 1 and they made me walk the halls half the night. I went in on Friday night and did not have my baby until early Sunday morning. It might just be worth your wait.

Castor Oil is often used to help start labor. It's recommended that you take 2-4 oz. It doesn't start labor in all pregnancies, and it those it does, the reasons why aren't really clear. The basic thought is that the bowel contractions help stimulate the uterus to contract as well. There is also some believe that the oil helps in the production of prostaglandins. One thing everyone agrees on it that it tastes pretty bad.
Here are some suggestions to help make it more palatable.

Castor oil is hard to taste scrambled into 2 or 3 eggs.
Drink oil straight followed immediately by hot apple juice.
Put the castor oil in 3-4 oz. of root beer, then place a palm over the glass, and shake it up HARD; then immediately guzzle all of the now-all-foamy rootbeer. It suspends the castor oil.
Add a couple of scoops of ice cream to the castor oil and orange juice.
Take one large glass of orange juice mix in three teaspoonful of castor oil and one teaspoon of baking soda. This will make it foamy, almost like a soda.

Ummm..you still have like a month to go, why would you want to do that exactly??
But if that's what you really want to do sex is supposed to work. The sperm contains prostaglandin which can help soften the cervix. It's suggested that you use a position that will encourage the semen to pool at the cervix. In other words, put a pillow or a rolled up blanket under your bum and wait a little bit before standing.

nipple stimulation- by hand or breast pump. - triggers your body to make oxytocin, which is a natural version of the labor inducer Pitocin.
sex- semen i full of labor inducing prostaglandins... and orgasms help to bring on contractions as well
best two proven to help move things along

As someone mention sex and nipple stimulation. The man's ejaculate has prostaglandins which cause dilation, and nipple stimulation releases oxytocin which causes contractions. So both would cause inner play and cause you to go into labor.

I have a friend who swears that walking helps to bring on contractions. Also, some people swear by a sip of Heineken. Best wishes on a healthy and speedy delivery.
