I replaced my old thermostat with a new digital one. The old thermostat worked but I wanted to replace it with a more up to date model. I faithfully followed the installation instructions and have checked the wiring 3 times but the new thermostat will not turn on the fan, heater, or A/C. I tried to reconnect the old thermostat but now it won't work either. I've checked the breakers at the main and they are fine. Is there a fuse somewhere that may have blown? Is there someway to check the thermostat?

There is usually a fuse on the furnace board inside the furnace. It is unlikely that the fuse blew if you turned the power off first. If the wiring is correct and you haven't made any changes after checking it the first time, then it's possible that the wires may have a bare spot on them near the stat or in the wall. Check the fuse in the furnace, make sure the power is on in the panel and at the furnace. If the fuse is fine and the power is on, you will have to call an HVAC repair tech.

You did not indicate if you have a conventional system or a heat pump system. Heat pump system can be confusing, conventional is straight forward. Check this site for wiring. Check the wiring on the outside unit as which color goes where, make sure it matches the thermostat connections.
