Weeks 9 to 12 (11th to 14th week of pregnancy):

The fetus reaches a length of 8 cm (3.2 inches).
The head comprises nearly half of the fetus' size.
The face is well formed and develops a human appearance.
The eyelids close and will not reopen until about the 28th week.
Tooth buds, which will form the baby teeth, appear.
The limbs are long and thin.
The fetus can make a fist with its fingers.
Genitals appear well differentiated.
Red blood cells are produced in the liver.

::::
I'm pretty sure that the fetus can feel sensation by this period, i'm not positive, but alot of interesting things about stages can be found here:

I agree - don't listen to the critics.

You are encouraged to talk to baby, send positive thoughts to baby, rub your stomach etc. Even though baby may not be able to feel the actual action of your hand rubbing your stomach just yet it can feel the emotional feelings that run through you when you rub your stomach.

Like you i LOVE to rub my stomach - it helps ME feel connected. Makes me all warm and fuzzy on the inside! lol.

I'm 20wks now. Every night since about 7wks i lay down and read a book to my baby and rub my stomach. These days when i rub my belly i feel baby pushing back - not actual kicks.. feels more like baby is pressing her body against the uterus (so in turn my hand). I'm a firm believer that baby knows its my hand there because she is use to it. She's always felt it.

You enjoy your connection with your baby. Congrats and best of luck!

I don't know whether the baby can feel it or not. I am 16 weeks pregnant with first child and I rub my stomach too from the day i found out that i'm pregnant.

Yes your baby can feel your rubbing, especially as baby gets bigger! : ) I used to rub my baby's back all the time (I could feel it pressed up against my side) and would always use a figure 8 and hum the "baby of mine" song from Dumbo. To this day (7 1/2 months later) doing that same thing calms him down, even when other rubbing etc. won't work!! Good for you, let your baby know how much you love him/her now and your bond will be that much greater when you can hold them in your arms!! : )

Congratulations, your baby may not be able to feel it yet but will be able to seance it. A you get bigger and are able to feel the baby move it may respond by kicking when you rub your belly. With my daughter I would rub the top of my belly as she was breech until a few days before birth, she loves it even now, it will put her to sleep. I am currently 27 weeks pregnant and the baby kicks and moves like crazy when I touch my belly, it goes quiet when my husband puts his hand there but if I touch my belly to it will respond with my husband.

It will be able to sense everything you do and your voice, read a story not yet as the ears haven't developed yet but in time it will and hearing your voice will settle the baby now and after birth.
Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy.

I'm sure they can because I used to rub my stomach further into my pregnancies and they would move around more when I rubbed my stomach.

your baby may not feel the physical touch, but he/she certainly feels your love! Keep rubbing your belly! You should sldo rub some kukui nut or coconut oil on your belly to avoid strrtch marks.
