There have been many notable people notable in the study of the mind:
* Plato and Aristotle - the first philosophers to first study the mind;
* Thomas Hobbes - although best known for his work on the state also one of the first people to develop a theory on the physical working on the mind;
* George Berkeley- considered the mind as a seperate thing;
* TH Huxley - merged Hobbes and Darwin; and
* Sigmund Freud - developed theories of the subconcious mind;
Notable contemporary thinkers include Douglas Hofstadter, Daniel Dennett, Ken Wilber and David Bohm.
