My roommate's been really pissing me off lately. The main problem is that she opens the window at night, and it's cold outside, so all the heat from our heater goes right out the window and I have a low tolerance for cold. The thing is, I actually asked her one night if I could close the window so it wouldn't get cold, and she said I could, but to keep it a little open because she likes it open. Well, that made me so mad, because it gets just as cold whether it's open all the way or just a "little open." How the heck can I tell her nicely that it's too cold for me without sounding mean or like I'm trying to get my way? I would've told her I like the window shut earlier this year, but I didn't really she'd be dumb enough to open it during late fall and winter when it gets into the 30s and 40s outside...

P.S. Our heater is only on at night so this makes the room cold during the night AND the entire next day...

The only thing I can reccomend is creating a compromise with the window open one night and closed the next. If you live in an apartment (as opposed to a dorm) and have to pay utilities, inform her that you won't be paying your part of the electric or gas (whichever your heat runs on) bill unless she closes the window as because of her, you are technically heating the outside (heat is very expensive).

If nothing works, try finding a sub-leaser for the apartment and get out of the lease, either that or wait until the lease is up and get the heck out of there.

It sounds like she is trying but you have to give her a chance to you know try to talk to her and tell her that having the window open makes you mad and tell her that you just don't like it that your not trying not to make her mad but if she could plz help make things a little easier and just get a fan or something so that the window doesn't make all the house cold try to make a deal with her well OK hope it helps bye bye

What you can do is try to fake a cold. start coughing and say " I feel so cold in this room and i think i'm coming down with something". you can also just ask her and say "this is mine and your room and i would apreciate it if you would close the window because i like my room to be warm. If you want it to be cold why dont you sleep with someone that likes to freeze her a** off at night." :D
Good Luck

Just nicely say "Could tonight we shut the window? It gets just a little too cold for me to get a good nights sleep". Good luck, when I go to college I hope my roommate doesn't have odd habits like that!

If she is paying the entier electric/gas bill let it be. Buy a space heater and make her bill higher if you 2 split the bills remind her that the bills are split and if she insists on having the window open with the heat on then she will pay a biger portion of the heating bill...If nither of you pay the bills get a heated blanket and a space heater.

i would really find a new room mate. you probably could look for a new one and this would solve alot of your problems.i would ask the next one if she opens the window in the cold weather or not.start looking for a new one.
