It is a difficult watch because there are many elements at play....
the center of the movie is how the west (namely, the U.S.) influences and EVEN DICTATES policy in a region of the world where borders are battle lines...
Clearly, oil is the critical resource, but how that oil is gathered through contacts...and contracts...says a lot about how the world is today...
From the lowly peasant worker in Saudi Arabia to a Big Oil's CEO, all the people you see within the framework of the film have a stake in what happens next..
And George Clooney is one of the more deserving Academy Award winners in recent years...he is amazing...
Just my opinion...lol

I actually does no longer placed it previous the U. S. authorities to drag a number of that. In 1996, united statesa. and Pakistan were the purely 2 supporters of the Taliban. united statesa. supported them because Unical had to construct a pipelaine throughout the time of southern Afghanistan to India, and Taliban promised safe practices. In 1998, the oil rights were re-neogtiated because an Argentinian oil business corporation (Bridas) presented extra money. Thats the first time the yankee authorities ever had something negative to say about the Taliban. The movie is fiction, yet i does no longer be shocked if something similar happenened.

If you are willing to pay REAL close attention to what is going on, an deal with a very non-lineral narrative, about an extremely uncommercial subject matter, it is a good and challenging film to watch....
...and "God", I mean George, rocks!

It's very fast paced & complicated for some. It keeps you on your toes. You really have to listen though because the dialogue is very wordy. My husband hated this movie, but I liked it. It was hard for him to understand is what he said. Me too, but I still enjoyed it.
