Yeah, I hate that fact about narrow-minded people, but I think it's more than being solely "surprised' I think that when you show a new interest of yours or another side of your personality, they majorly flip out and make a scene beating you back into who you were before.
It's hard to grow up in a narrow minded person environment, because you get so scared that you'll make them flip out that you never grow or change thus you stop living.
You start dying inside.
All because of narrow-minded people not knowing what life is about:
If you don't change, you don't grow, if you don't grow, you're not a real person anymore.

I think narrow-minded people are more likely to judge other people in a negative way so they can continue to feel okay about themselves.
