The current generation of FC's are not the perpetrators of suppression and the current generation of BC's, OBC's and SC/ST's are not the victims. So why should they be given special treatment in the name of correcting historical wrong?

For ex: I am a Brahmin. Financially, It was not easy for my parents to give me good education. Still they borrowed money, took loans and on my part i burnt midnight oil to get into a good college. I was never involved in suppressing anyone. Nor did my parents. So why should i be discriminated in jobs? My OBC friends economically better than me, did not suffer from upper castes but still enjoy reservation in colleges and jobs.

When do you think the politicians wil give up this QUOTA politics?

Please reply if you have an intellectually stimulating answer. Please dont reply if you want to say "This will never happen", "This is a curse", etc.

I am able to understand your feeling. I am also a person not eligible for reservation. In my opinion, there is still some justification for some categories of socially backward classes. But, I am of the firm view that this special dispensation should be only for a limited period and cannot extended for a time in perpetuity. If backwardness will continue despite reservation, there is justification for reservation. Creamy layer concept is a welcome one and is in line with the spirit of rationalisation of reservation.

In the present vote bank political scenario it would be great difficult to put an end for reservation. It is very abusive to hear that now one after one caste, including forward castes pampering for getting reservation status. It became a status symbol.

We should differentiate socially backwardness with economically backwardness. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes have centuries old social supression to claim reservation. That is not the case of others. However, even after six decades of reservation-raj it is unfortuante only some privilaged sections of those communities hijacking the benefit of reservation. It is high time to have cremilaier for reservation. But that need a political will among politicians at the helf of affairs.

Spoon feeding to the backward classification isn't the properly suitable ingredient. they're better wealty than the others.they have farms, lands, factories, money, incomes from pastime, they're plenty properly off. All this makes them imagine of that they are the bosses, and accordingly they dont favor to persue preparation etc. The vote economic agency ideas of the Politicians is the idea rationalization for this disgusting gadget of reservation. that is a evil, to be burnt off. imagine of, a student stuidying very no longer human being-pleasant, is smart, receives ninety 5% marks, yet has to gface competetion to maintain an admission. once you've admitted, imagine of the horror of attending classification with this fellow student on the subsequent table, a Dalit perchance, who has secured truly 40 5% marks yet were given admission through making use of reservation. Currupt politics is the gadget of reservation.

In India everything and every revolutions depend upon the quantity of votes your community can offer. Here after suffering a lot from these politicians....the upper class community didnt realise and make it to real practice. They are still going behind Congress where they get smiling face...only smiling faces!Congress party has made this offer to obcs and sc/sts to get votes.they will offer the same to get votes from muslims and christians. But they will not do anything for the upper cast(even though they are upper only by that cast name) thinking they will lose minority votes.
Why dont we make vote banks?!We can do it!Letus bargain for our rights!!Oneday it will happen!!

Afickle and effete coalition government at the Centre that must jerk up every time the Left or any of the junior partners of the coalition sneezes, is naturally unable to rule by any stratagem other than undiluted populist measures. There is no question of giving performance even a ghost of a chance. So, even 56 years after our Constitution, we have the Union Government seriously considering a hike in the reservation quantum for the Scheduled Castes (SCs) from 15 to 16.23 per cent. Obviously, none of our honourable lawmakers wishes to be reminded of the fact that the Constitution initially stipulated reservations only for ten years. But there is nothing quite as popular for political parties or nothing quite so well calculated to rake in the votes as a promise to increase reservation quotas and to extend them irrationally to all sectors of society and the economy. This is the obvious populist choice because it makes no demands of efficient performance, merit or even accountability of either the Executive or the Legislature. All that the politician has to do in order to survive is to announce yet another increase in the reservation quota — whether possible or not.
A look at the stated rationale for increasing the reservation quantum for SCs is indeed edifying. The census of 2001 puts the dalit share of India’s population at 16.23 per cent, as against 15 per cent in the 1961 census. And so the reservation quota must be increased to match the dalit share of the population. In other words, our leaders are also telling the nation that is already adding 23 million to the population every year that if they want the quantum of reservations to be increased from time to time, all that they have to do is to keep increasing the population. Since an increase in the population will reflect an increase in the population of virtually every segment, it will be possible to increase reservation quotas selectively depending on where the greatest electoral advantages lie. In fact, it would be possible even to amend the Constitution further to make selective reservations possible.
Even those who are willing to overlook the original stipulation of the Constitution about reservations being limited to a ten-year period, will naturally have questions about what the proposed increase in the reservation quotas does to the limit of 50 per cent reservations set by the Supreme Court. Even the existing quota of 15 per cent for SCs, 7.5 per cent for STs and 27 per cent for OBCs is perilously close to the limit of 49.5 per cent. If the Union Government accepts the proposal to increase the SC quota to 16.23 per cent, the Supreme Court’s ceiling of 50 per cent reservations will be breached. It is hardly surprising that there should be nationwide protests over the government’s plans to extend reservations further. It means denial of opportunities to people with merit and it means a clear message that there is no need to study well, work hard or to excel in anything at all. There is only a need to do what is clearly impossible — to choose one’s parents right. Since this is clearly impossible, meritorious children who cannot claim any reservations will have to resort to one more corrupt practice that the system forces on law-abiding citizens. They will have to get themselves adopted by dalits who do have quotas.

In theory, I am pro-reservations.

However, I have doubts whether reservations really work. Prior to the independence Muslims had de-facto reservation for a 1000 years and it seems it has not helped them at all.

Taking the same arguement of oppression in the past I would like to say that Muslim rulers had committed intolerable torture to Hindus, so we must take historical revenge.Govt should facilitate that.
