If you're trying to suggest that liberals would rush to appease Hitler and the forces of fascism, perhaps you should be reminded that FDR--a liberal if there ever was one--was perhaps the member of the US government most eager to enter WWII. His efforts to enter the War, or at least to Britain non-militarily, were hampered largely by isolationist conservatives in Congress.

Also, you may want to take note of what Keith Olbermann has to say about the striking similarities between the Bush II administration and the appeasement-happy Chamberlain government that was ever so willing to hand over Europe on a silver platter:

So, to answer your question, liberals would probably be clamoring that the US should enter the War, while conservatives would be urging that we appease the beast and just not get involved. Not our problem, not our war.

Remember neocon, it was a Democratic President, FDR who had to drag republicans into WWII kicking and screaming 2 years after it started. In fact, during the Presidential election campaigns of 1940, the republicans accused Roosevelt of warmongering. Conservative Americans were doing too good of business with Hitler to want to interfere. Henry Ford was selling automotive equipment up until the last minute. They also new about the extermination of the Jews, but did not care about that either.

Wendell Willkie, the 1940 Republican Presidential candidate appealed to isolationist conservatives:

•"No man has the right to use the great powers of the Presidency to lead the people, indirectly, into war"; the next day headlines blared, "MUST AVOID WAR, WILLKIE DECLARES."

Conservatives, always wrong – always afraid of the fight.

Considering that FDR was the king of all liberals I would guess that they would be on the side of the US or was FDR a closet Nazi? Charles Lindberg was a big Republican at that time but he was giving a lot of support to Germany and was pushing for the US not to get involved in WW2 which sounds very liberal but he was a Republican. Can you explain that one for me?

If this were 1938, liberals would want to deal with the major global threats. Unfortunately in these modern times we're stuck with a President who probably would've thought it was a good idea to invade Bolivia to deal with the rising Nazi threat in Europe.

I seem to recall the Democrats voting in favor of invading Iraq on stoked up fears of WMDs. Which way do you want to slice it?

Better question back to you: if Bush had chosen to "go it alone" in 1938, what language would we all be speaking today?

This one's easy. Leave those poor nazis alone. They never hurt anybody (yet).
Check history and see what side they were on during the civil war. Democrats called President Lincoln 'insane' and that he lied about what the north was fighting about.

Some things never change.
